A. Your Attorney Will Communicate
On Your Behalf
When you retain an attorney, your
job is much easier than when you represent yourself. Your attorney
will communicate with the court from the beginning to the end
for you. After you retain an attorney, he or she will send a
so-called “appearance letter”, the letter that describes
that the attorney is representing you in court. Once the appearance
letter is submitted to court, the court will send a court notice
to both the attorney and the defendant. If there is a scheduling
issue, for example, the attorney will contact the court so that
the defendant does not have to handle this issue with the court
directly. When you retain an attorney, the attorney will communicate
with the court on your behalf.
